Water Quality Improvements Underway

Orange City’s water system has undergone significant rehabilitation over the past several years with more underway. The City of Orange City Public Works Department (Utilities Division) started construction on a project to improve potable water quality in Orange City. This project includes replacing selected aging water mains and service connections over a period of 2 to 3 years. Construction techniques that minimize water service outage will be used. Water service to affected households or businesses may experience a temporary shut-off (typically less than 12 hours) during this construction. Crews will distribute door hangers with planned outage information at least 24 hours prior to a temporary shut off.  During this pipe rehabilitation project, OCU customers may experience construction challenges, due to the magnitude and complicated processes used to remove old water pipes and install new ones.  The project will only affect households that are on public water. Private water systems will not be affected.  Construction for this project began in September.
