Hands on experience in the challenging field of Law Enforcement!
Police Cadets are youths 13-18 years of age, who are of good moral character, maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and have an interest in Law Enforcement. The Orange City Police Cadet program promotes character development, citizenship, training and personal fitness through Law Enforcement training and fun community service.
Orange City Police Cadets meet every Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM, at the Wava Hall (200 N Holly Ave). During this time, Cadets are exposed to safe, structured Law Enforcement training, to include classroom principles and hands-on practice on the following topics:
- Crime Prevention
- Accident Investigation
- Crime Scene Investigations
- Traffic Stops
- First Aid
- Patrol Procedures
- Search and Arrest
- Bomb Threats
Cadets are mentored by full-time police officers, called advisers, who have many years of experience. There is a chain-of-command within the post, in which Cadets, who demonstrate competence and maturity, can attain leadership roles.
The Police Cadet Post is a non-profit organization and do fund raising to participate in many events including Parades, Manatee Festival, Fireworks and Fun, National Night Out, all City Parades. The Police Cadets have worked with local businesses and schools providing assistance with varied programs.
Post #2301 also participates in the Central Florida Law Enforcement Explorer Academy (CFLEEA) at Seminole State College each summer.
None of this is done without a cost; uniforms, equipment, and travel expenses. Your assistance via our sponsorship program makes a way to offset these expenses. If you would like to donate to our Cadet program, please contact us. All donations are tax deductible.
Cadets do not have actual Police Powers of Arrest!!!
Parental participation is welcomed!!!
