All businesses, home businesses and independent contractors that are located within the Orange City limits are required to pay a local business tax, – “Business Tax Receipt”. In addition to a City Business Tax Receipt, businesses are also required to obtain a County Business Tax Receipt from Volusia County once the City’s is obtained.
Home offices or home-based businesses must also include a completed “Home Office Agreement” form in addition to the application packet.
All applications/forms necessary to apply for an Orange City Business Tax Receipt are located below. Forms can be filled out on line and emailed to [email protected], printed and mailed to 229 E. Graves Ave. Orange City, FL 32763 Attn: City Clerk’s Office or hand delivered to the City Clerk’s Office.
Application fees include: $15.00 for commercial location and $40.00 for home business locations. All forms of payment are accepted in person. Check, money order and cashier’s check are accepted by mail. Applications will not be processed until non-refundable application fee is received.
The approval process to obtain your Local Business Tax Receipt is approximately 7-10 business days. You will be notified when the process is complete. The Business Tax Receipt payment will be due at that time.
Business Tax Receipt payments are due on October 1st of each year. Taxes not paid by that date will be subject to penalties. If you have any question regarding Local Business Taxes, please call the City Clerk’s office at 386-775-5404.
