William O’Connor, known as Bill, is a lifelong resident of the Orange City/DeLand area. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Machinist Mate in the Navy’s Submarine Force, Bill went on to earn degrees from the University of Central Florida (BA) and Stetson University (MBA).

Bill served as the Director of Continuing Education at Stetson University for 19 years before retiring. Since his retirement, he worked as a Business Service Manager at CareerSource Flagler Volusia for three years and currently works part-time for Ace Hardware.

An active member of the community, Bill is a past President of the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts, past President MainStreet DeLand Association, past Vice-President of Education for the DeLand Chamber of Commerce, and past Senior Vice Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8093 DeBary. He also served on the DeLand Bike Rally and the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts Road Crew. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for John Knox Village Retirement Community, is Quartermaster for VFW Post 8093, and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, and the Disabled American Veterans organizations.
