Council Member Crippen Biography

William Crippen, affectionately known as Bill, is a retired DeLand native, Orange City business owner and our Council Member At-Large. Bill is married with three children and two grand children. He received his BA in Psychology at Stetson University and Masters in Public Health Administration at the University of South Florida. Besides his scholarly achievements, Mr. Crippen provides our Council a public service mindset, rich character, and 30 years of experience from working with the State of Florida.

From childhood into adulthood, Bill has always been fascinated with the unique history of West Volusia County and often portrays many colorful figures in performances at the Annual Cemetery Walk for the West Volusia Historical Society. His interests also include archaeology, reading, restoring furniture and collecting old wood working tools.

Since 2009, Bill has been a vital member of the Council and has served on numerous boards and committees, while finding the time to maintain active membership in the DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club since 1989.
